BURNING MAN FESTIVAL 2525
from this year's show
this piece is from this year’s touring show
Adventures In Canadian Parking Lots
...
you might find a line or two of this
in THE BUCKET OF UNUSED IDEAS
only accessible via the link you will find behind the paywall here
yet The Bucket is 700+ pieces
wholly and digitally randomised
so it might take you a while to find them
...
...
though i messengered the link to The Bucket
to my pal Natalie
in Ottawa
it was the first time she’d heard of The Bucket
and yet
ten minutes later
after some speedy paying
and lucky dipping in the deep pond of randomised pixels
that is The Bucket
she sends me a screenshot
of a line she’s been wanting for years
and found in seconds
which is pure chance
...
...
a fiver Canadian will get you a month behind the paywall
which is a right bargain
and the opposite of steep
for what is a
errrr
new form of literature
unlike anything anyone ever did before
...
...
...
...
meanwhile
Rabat, the Medina
nice
except i’m convalescing from something tediously clingy
...
so i’m happily doodling the light days
right-angling around this maze
these tight streets
which have an amazing propensity
to turn you round corner after corner
lead you along stretch after stretch
and then confront you with a
dead-end...?
...
and where asking the next question
how can there be a dead-end after all that?
is also a dead-end
...
because it gets me
and probably would you too
gets me thinking
how can there be, in this tight urban squish
such a long series of alleyways that go nowhere
it disobeys the rules of time and space
well space, anyhow
because these old cities
Marrakesh Fez Rabat and more
[especially Marrakesh]
they have super-tight crammed Medinas
so i don’t see how they can
have long alleyways within themselves that
go nowhere
it don’t make sense
its bad maths
bad geometry
bad spatial logic
and good fun for the slow ambling head
drinking in the august doors
the mottled white walls
the flaking plaster
the hot-plated breads
the mouldy persimmons
the placidly doomed chickens
the cream cakes
the sizzling sausages
the mean-faced cats
the yawing square minarets
the low arches
the mint tea
the raib
the maakouda
the rfissa
and the much much unworded more
...
before i return to my riad
for the kind of binge-watching
that convalescing certainly permits
...
...
enjoy the clip
more to come
...
